I’m curious about the psycology of the effect on people saying “That’s right” or “You’re right” meaning correct. Does it imply that Left is wrong?
Where did it start? I guaruntee that “right” was a direction/side (ie: turn right, right side) long before it meant “correct” or “yes”.
Which raises the question how does “right away” fit into all of this? It symantically doesn’t make any sense if you look at the two words individually. On the same level “right now” is a waste of a syllable because “now” says it all. Anybody?
