About

A left-handed Portland Oregon native and an Oregon State graduate. I deeply love the PNW and being outside whenever possible with my 11 year old (puppy at heart) lab-healer Pippa. When at work though, I’m passionate about solving interesting problems for real people. I believe in equitable and accessible design in both the physical and the digital realms. If at the end of my day I can validate that I’ve made someone’s life easier, gained shared understanding or simplified a process; that is a great day.

History

As a recovering front end software developer I have a knack and desire for understanding how things work, not just how people interact with them. I enjoy modeling systems to share that understanding and what gaps are worth addressing now, to save time and money in the future.

For the past 7 years I’ve been dedicated to a space in the construction retail industry for Home Depot working on an associate application called QuoteCenter. Before that I did a 4 year stint at Nike working for the internal marketing and online checkout teams. I’m no stranger to enterprise or start-up quirks.

I’m based in Portland, and am looking for remote or mostly remote opportunities. I’m willing to travel to the office on occasion as needed, or absolutely willing if it gets me in front of users.

UX is about engaging the human part of our existence. Not only in the way that we interact with applications and technology, but with eachother as interesting individuals.

I’ve been solving user problems for the Home Depot Pro Associates (Pro Services desk) and trying to understand the Pro Customer at QuoteCenter for going on 7 years now. Through a mixture of trial and iteration, testing, qualitative and quantitative research my team has grown a special order market place from $75M (in 2014) to now over $2.4B+ in annualized sales. Our little associate facing application has made waves for our $130B/yr enterprise by leveraging third party supplier services, regional pricing/availabity to offer an endless aisle for whatever a Pro needs.
